Golfing in Boston is only for the die-hards since the season is so short (9 months) and tee times are hard to come-by at the best course in Boston, and you'll often have to pay close to $100 for a decent 5-hour round. I never get to play as often as I'd like, but when I do, here are a few of my favorites. Some of these will be well-known; others are well-kept secrets (until now!). - North of Boston
- The Ledges (York, ME - $$) - less than 90 mins from Boston, but one of the best courses I've played in the area - plus a bargain! Play in the fall, when foliage is in peak!
- The Meadow at Peabody (Peabody - $$)
- Gannon Golf Club (Lynn - $$) - formerly a muni course, now semi-private. Still worth a play.
- South of Boston
- Pinehills Golf Club (Plymouth - $$$$) - two crown jewel courses in Plymouth
- Granite Links Golf Club (Quincy/Milton - $$$$) - beautiful vistas < 10 mi from Boston
- Waverly Oaks Golf Club (Plymouth - $$$$)
- Crosswinds Golf Club (Plymouth - $$$)
- Poquoy Brook (Lakeville - $$) - One of my favorites in the area - best overall value
- Olde Scotland Links (Bridgewater - $$)
- West of Boston
Know of any other courses you'd add? Let me know and I'll try to get out there to play and review it. |
